silvio started out as some super naive yet really book-smart kid (his speciality is science, his GOAT gave him the job of pip-boy technician) from the vault who wanted to become a teacher as soon as he got his dad back and resolved everything! he depended on vault-tec ™ issued survival guides, and a big book of science he carried everywhere, imagine a really awkward kid with a gigantic backpack coming into class like 5 minutes early. that was pre fo3 silvio, he asked a lot of questions to various, unwilling (to the disappointment of him) people
he was a chipper lad. prior, he had a bit of a fear of robots prior to leaving the vault because of the mr handy cake incident from his tenth birthday party. he thought mutants were an urban legend made up by wally mack to scare him/not on the scale of what exists in fallout so he was COMPLETELY unprepared for them, and he also likes tom and jerry a lot and has watched all the videos in the vault archive several times over
since human!silvio relied on vault-tec issued textbooks like they were the bible or something to survive in the wasteland he probably carried around a big book of science in his napsack, those things are 997 pages, can we get an f for this lad…
“good evening chums, might i interest you all in some light reading?” silvio drops the big book of science on the table so hard it snaps the table in half
silvio during fo3 is also fascinated by the pursuit of knowledge and makes sure to spend his time at the museum of tech writing down as many notes about it as possible, for his own research–considering he very nearly exhausted every book at the vault 101 library
prior to all the shit happening would bribe random wastelanders to be interviewed in his holotapes…he’d come up to some fuckin rando that looks interesting and say “ello sir, may you stand still so i can ask you questions for my vault :)” and offer them like 50 caps
for every day he was in the capital wasteland, silvio made visual holotapes of his shenanigans to reference off of when he returned to the vault (and saved his dad!!) he wanted to use them to make new text books for the vault-kids inside, and (if he were to become a teacher, create a more open minded vault 101) silvio is surprisingly very good with kids and still is, even though the GOAT assigned him to be a pip-boy technician
like i said…he really wanted to be a teacher, he…continued to do so after james’s death, even though at that point he knew he couldnt return to vault 101, he kept recording all the way up to his ghoulification and he hasnt looked at them since
he didnt really want to be a hero nor make an impact ngl, he just wanted to go back into the safety of the vault as quickly as possible and hope that the overseer accepts him back in so he could get that teaching job he wanted his whole life, but the wasteland severely fucked him up because he was so poorly prepared (relying on vault-tec propaganda doesnt help matters much) especially after his dad died so he never got a chance to, ghosting vault 101 after he was kicked out a second time.
his hair started to become messy (typical for ghoulivio) after the events of trouble on the homefront, where he lost the motivation to keep brushing it--he was incredibly crushed over not having the chance to go back again
point lookout happens about 2 years after silvio finished project purity, as his first attempt to escape that legacy the lw title gave him after chilling in underworld out of sight for a while, it…goes horribly as we all know and it messes him up even more, silvio’s messy ass hair hides the scar on his head from walking with spirits and point lookout really sets current ghoulvio’s eccentric personality into motion, it was combed at one point! but as fo3 went on he stopped caring so much
vault 106/point lookout were the two most impactful aspects of his time in the wasteland, 106 playing on his desire to go home and point lookout playing on his desire for his dad coming back, both also fucked him up. he also despises the BoS likewise for using him to further their own goals, and didn’t like them even while he was teaming up with them to defeat the enclave, because in his eyes the enclave was a lot worse, they killed his dad yknow
After the events of fo3, Silvio craves to create a better life for himself, on his own terms. He realizes that there's nothing left for him in the capital wasteland, nor would he be welcome much longer at the citadel (he was going ghoul from the events of project purity, something he couldn't hide from much longer) much to his chagrin, and aims to go as far away from the source of his tragedy as much as possible.
lone wanderer silvio keeps his glasses on with tape, they were jonas’s (his best friend in the vault) and thats the only thing he has left from his old life so he’s very touchy about people handling them
Frustrated with his first attempts in making a new life for himself @ point lookout not coming to fruition, he ends up heading out west, not quite knowing where he's going nor his destination, but of course, anything is better than where he was now...he used his pip boy to help him survive, and his wits as a way to help him traverse the cross country trip without too much trouble. On the way, he hears of Vegas from a group of travelers, and hears of its reputation of being a place to begin again
So he heads on over to new Vegas, and makes it an effort to enter the city as quickly as possible. It takes him about 2 years to cross the country before he makes it to freeside. Vegas is just around the corner, and he's extremely excited.
Only problem is that he's at the final stages of ghoulification, and is quite scared of this fact... before then, however, he finds work at the atomic wrangler as a waiter. The garretts are suprisingly sympathetic to his story (Silvio making it an effort to hide his lone wanderer status from everyone, as to not get hurt again and start over brand new) and put him to work immediately, giving him a room upstairs to live at. Not the comfiest place in the world, but it's safe.
A couple of weeks after settling in, however, Silvio realizes he can't ignore the fact that he's mutating anymore when he wakes up without a nose nor ears
Initially, before work, he hastily tapes his glasses to his temples and and tries to cover himself up with a scarf and a jacket as to not draw attention to the fact that he's a full on ghoul now. the garretts find out pretty easily that something wasn't right, and find out pretty easily. They tell him that they don't care if he isn't human anymore. as long as he's a good worker, of course
That same day, a ghoul patron of the bar chats him up and Silvio admits that he hasn't been a mutant for too long, and that hes trying to get into vegas. That ghoul tells him that there's a highly successful and strip famous man by the name of the good doctor that is a beacon of hope for mutants like the two of them in Vegas, and that tgd has a reputation for taking in fellow mutants that have fallen on hard times, people like Silvio, and helping them start over again. Silvio makes it a goal to work for the doctor, and once he earns the 2,000 caps for the pass, he says goodbye and thanks to the atomic wrangler staff for helping him out, and begins reinventing himself down in Vegas
needless to say that, once Silvio is interviewed by tgd himself, tgd is happy to help him out by hiring him to work at his store, with the two discovering they have a lot of common ground, he takes him in as his protege, both becoming very good friends in the process
silvio also managed to meet with ali completely on accident because while he was getting off of a monorail he tripped and fell (he likes taking them for no-reason in particular, just to take his mind off things), and ali happened to be there at getting ready to go to his fateful courier assignment and caught him just in time, during the events of fnv, due to shared interests (both are very science oriented) they became quick friends!
he’s basically a nerd ghoul science man but deep down he’s still a sweetheart and it shows

The Good Doctor's company mascot
(pre and post war)
the pre-war version was used for his pharmaceutical company and its products
the post-war version is used for his caravan and products he sells at his convenience store on the strip (edited by him to reflect on the fact that he's a ghoul now)
hes a pre war ghoul oc…and his entire arc is just cataloging how things fall apart around him as the years before the great war go by. this is the same man who instead of freaking out as soon as he ghoulified started doing tests on himself to figure out what the hell is happening
he’s known as “the good doctor” of the new vegas strip and he has that intimidating reputation so nobody touches him, runs a very successful corner store/caravan that rivals the crimson caravan and hides his feelings behind thirty layers of his guile and charismatic composure, dresses very nice and wears a wig--he's quite the gentleman!
he starts off as a lower middle class son of a struggling scientist and ends up as an extremely successful philanthropic doctor
his father was very successful in the country of origin (hong kong) but when they moved to america they struggled, they lived in a small apartment and the family-life was unstable, his mom ran a decent store
as a kid had major anxiety issues because of his dysfunctional life (and these still maintained themselves even when he become famous, he had to take grape mentats in order to calm himself before a talk-show, for instance, outside of their public perception he was a shy and soft spoken man), his brother was his mediator and he loved him very much he wanted to become successful because he felt entitled to a better life, considering his circumstances
he had few friends until he started college @ university of nevada and got therapy, was thriving, interned at various research + development centers in the summers, and hit it big with his innovations while there and leaves before their budgets are cut, after he graduated from the university of nevada that he founds his own pharmaceutical company with his father’s help 10 years before the resource wars which…becomes wildly popular, this company was absolutely made with good intentions
meanwhile his brother becomes an activist, responding to growing tensions wrt resources (the resource wars)
tgd gets a snazzy suite on the strip, billboards of him go up everywhere–familiar companies become eager to partner with him (especially, vault tec)
unfortunately this comes with the added deficit of multiple pre war companies wanting to buy him out for all he’s worth, they sorta…nudge themselves into trying to do a venture with his company, but he refuses at first
he’s forced to do this during the resource wars because human!tgd feared becoming irrelevant considering his circumstances prior (his childhood where his family struggled financially–he worked his ass off to become notable for his work and he wasnt willing to discard this because of being de-funded), this backfires tremendously
they screw him over big time with using his innovations for their own scientific fuckery, they did this behind his back–he didnt know they were stealing his inventions (created with good intentions) and transforming it into malicious tools for their vault projects. when he finds this out he’s pretty horrified
he attempts to expose them out of anger over the course of several years and is nearly successful until he gets caught and screwed over big time by the government/the enclave, they have and has his mother imprisoned @ her home despite tgd thinking he is protected, as punishment he never sees her again
his dad is caught in the initial spillage of the new plague and dies
by the time of the sino-american war tgd is the target of numerous assassination attempts from the government, but vault tec still needs him, and he stays with them out of fear of imprisonment at this point - the horrors behind west-tek are leaked a few months before the great war by an “unknown source”
his brother gets extremely angry at him for staying, despite being knowledgeable of their atrocities/what theyre doing to citizens like him, not knowing that he’s been trying to expose them, tgd tries to clear himself up by explaining, but its too late and his brother leaves–and his brother caught and is detained for his activism (thats also a long story)
vault-tec/west tek jumps at the chance to be rid of tgd and to keep his inventions for themselves after his brother is caught, so they have him arrested, however he was expecting this, so he burns up his blueprints before hand, vault tec has nothing and now they need him, tgd goes on the run before the police arrive, and stays at his former assistance’s house–dr lazarus, trusting him the most at this point–he betrays him to vault tec for money, however–and tgd is imprisoned at west-tek base and forced to continue to work for vault-tec
tgd is at the lowest levels of west-tek when the nuke hits the facility head on, everyone but him dies, he survives because of his confinements protecting him, he puts on a industrial radiation suit and escapes–this isnt enough to protect him from the fallout, and he starts ghoulifying about a month later
his post war reputation on the strip is huge, everyone knows him and nobody messes with him--however, to the people he loves he’s the nicest man alive
he’s also still looking for his brother, which is his main goal–to find him again
he goes from a dorky yet stern scientist pre-war to a charismatic and incredibly socially skilled ghoul businessman over the course of 204 odd years. like initially he's sorta...reeling from everything that happened, it takes him a long time to come to
terms with the bombs dropping because he's also still reeling from his imprisonment/losing his brother
after escaping west-tek, he finds an abandoned neighborhood and makes home there for the time being. (everyone there escaped to a vault prior to the great war) and uses the lab instead to do tests. he takes his mind off of it by studying the affects of radiation syndrome on himself
but when he ghoulifies instead of freaking out he tries to find SOME reasoning as to why he became like this, he's very calm about the whole ordeal, what he's not okay with is his entire life's work being flushed down the drain
but instead of saying "fuck it" and becoming a hermit for the rest of eternity, he instead
tries to build himself back up, starting out as a prospector/trader for necropolis and slowly building up a large caravan business for himself big enough to do business at the hub and makes a reputation for himself again
pre-war denizens that recognize him well enough to do business with him is a huge plus, he shifts from a human doctor that generally has a nervous exterior to somebody who's REALLY intimidating but puts himself out there, yet most people love him because uh, his charisma stat is at a 10, nobody fucks with him even as a ghoul
and people who dont know him too well and tries to start shit with him, he doesnt yell--he just describes, in visceral and very calm detail--what he's going to do to them if they dont cease.
anyways he ends up getting a place on the strip after getting in house's good graces (they were good friends and drinking buddies pre-war, so house is quite fond of him) anyways, he still genuinely wants to do good for the wasteland like he wanted to help out citizens with his inventions pre-war, that hasnt changed
so he has a lot of partnerships with his company and he dedicates himself to getting supplies out there basing himself in new vegas, his caravans trade with everyone across the mojave and he recently, prior to the courier's arrival--partnered up with the followers of the apocalypse in distributing medical supplies he prospects
anyways he dresses very nice despite being troubled from all the loss that occurred to him pre-war and also works on products specifically towards making the ghoul experience less...painful, he sells a lotion that makes ghoul skin less dry, for instance
good doctors current (pharmacutical) priorities are making a whole ass line of products towards making the ghoul experience a lot more bearable, meaning 1) a lotion to act as a temp epidermis to reduce nerve pain, 2) a spray that eases the rotting smell, and 3) a radiation scrub
with 1) he's concerned about the amount of ghouls using jet to cover up the nerve pains, instead he offers a less dangerous solution in the form of a lotion, he works on this stuff in the lab at his penthouse nobody but him is allowed in
the reason why he's "buff" and maintained muscle mass unlike most ghouls because he experimented on himself with FEV while trying to see how ghoulification works. it also tinted him a slight green

has a scar on his forehead from the gunshothas a scar on his forehead from the lobotomy at big mtmarried to yes mancis / gay

Friend
Friend (knows him through Chosen One Senshi)
(am currently revising his early childhood)
As an orphan he wandered the wastes and prospected for his food and eventually made his home in a REPCONN facility after a few close calls with local raiders (meaning, jackals, etc) and slavers. He hid there out of fear.
He got addicted to buffout during this time and initially started taking it to assist in fights He tried to justify it as wanting carry more things for himself as he’s a hoarder and stuff like that makes him feel stable and at ease, but it got out of control and became extremely psychological. He eventually was fueled by an unconscious need to feel stronger stemming from his perceived inability to save his folks.
This reasoning also fueled his eventual cybernetics addiction, albeit that is more stemming towards an overall disconnection from his humanity and a desire to express himself in a means that makes him comfortable and happens much later during the events of New Vegas. I’ve elaborated on this here.
Nevertheless, a Mister Handy in the area saved his life after an extremely close call with some jackals after a buffout deal gone wrong. He did not have the caps and thought he could hassle them, but it blew up in his face unfortunately.
So out of fear he hid in the REPCONN museum nearby and befriended a bunch of robots within the facility, I’ve expanded on this before and you can read about it here. This is what triggers his desire to look to cybernetics to make himself feel more comfortable as an individual and also his preference towards being with robots as a whole.
Feeling sorry for him after asking about his situation, Senshi offered him a place in her home over in Arroyo, and initially he refused out of extreme paranoia/the fact that you know, they just killed his surrogate family unwittingly. (buffout addiction + being unable to get a good nights rest every day for 4 years because of fear that the Legion will find you again does a number on you, obviously), but over time he softened up to her by offering to bring him food and supplies (and offering him somebody to talk to). Eventually he trusted her enough to move in with her and her wife Miria by the age of 14.
Senshi and Miria continued on his studies in the sciences because they saw he had massive potential, trying to wean him off buffout in the process but failing since he kept sneaking it in anyways, (he never truly shakes it even after the end of New Vegas). They love him very much and treat him like he was their own son! Senshi gave him her Pipboy 2000 and they kept in contact regularly throughout the rest of his teenage years. Eventually he finds out that Senshi is his aunt through a conversation relating to what happened. Ali tells her about Jaxson and she confesses that he was her brother. Reminiscing ensues.
They were very good to him regardless of his issues with social interaction and people in general, he still trusted robots more than people, so sometimes they’d catch him having a conversation with their resident Mister Handy. Their attempt at a remedy was making him work at their convenience store, but instead he became some what of a local cryptid–only appearing in public as an employee and on his days off deciding to opt into the comfort of staying at home and working on projects instead.
(fun fact, because of his experiences at REPCONN sometimes you’ll spot Ali moving robotically to pick up something, this is an incredibly unconscious thing–but the customers at his job do notice his quirks and he became a thing of gossip)
Initially, Ali was to take after Senshi as the next elder, but sometime after 2270 (we aren’t given an exact date on when it got annexed) the NCR took over Arroyo in a coup d'etat because Senshi refused to deal with them nor their demands (this pissed off Ali to the point where he only tolerates the NCR).
Senshi and Miria were allowed to be a figureheads for Arroyo due their status, but at this point Ali didn’t want to stay anymore because of his inherent attraction to traveling/not wanting to stay in one place really.
He wanted to also continue the legacy his Dad and Mom wanted to uphold regarding making a name for himself as a repairman in New Vegas, but despite knowing Senshi and Miria for years at this point he still couldn’t find the capacity to fully trust them (trauma does that to you), he started to plan out a way to get there in secret and eventually lands a job as a courier through various exploration of odd jobs combined with his front as a service clerk (also a plus is that the Legion aren’t allowed to target couriers unless it was an extreme circumstance)
He stays as a courier for Arroyo alongside being a service clerk, working for the NCR from age 17-23 until Primm’s services contact him for a 500 cap job straight to New Vegas delivering a strange package on October 27th, 2281.
Knowing that Senshi would be concerned and not wanting to deal with the onslaught of questions, he travels down to Primm and starts to deliver the package, then he gets shot in the head twice while traveling through Goodsprings, getting his Pipboy 2000 and most of his stuff stolen in the process (you already know wtf going on!). Being saved by Victor increased his trust of robots over humans by tenfold and this kickstarts a renewed fascination of them, he’s particularly offended when he finds that everyone in the town is relatively creeped out by him.
(Lets just say after he gets his Pipboy 3000 the first thing he does is contact his adopted parents and they are fucking pissed–not because he sneaked out, they were extremely worried about that, but because somebody tried to kill him)
(“put a cap in that sorry son of a bitches ass for me when y'all see him!”)
(“mom please”)
